I’m still reading Eating Animals. It’s good but it isn’t the quickest book to get through. While organizing on Thursday I found my old copy of Micheal Pollen’s Food Rules.
I bought it when it first came out years ago and I reread it last night because it is such a quick read. It’s like all of the other food books I read in a small tidy version with out all the “sciencey” stuff.
I have a good idea of the things I want to purchase when I grocery shop. Since I will be cutting back on meat I plan to only purchase tilapia and salmon (maybe shrimp) and a good variety of fruits and vegetables. I will also purchase quinoa which I was happy to learn is a seed not a grain. I’ve been thumbing through some recipe books and have a few recipes in mind.
I also got on the scale because I couldn’t help it and was down 3.5 pounds. Yay! I won’t weigh again until my regularly scheduled weigh in day. I kinda had the feeling that if I finally got my portions under control I could start losing. My first mini goal is to get back down to my lowest weight of the year which was on 245.5 on 1/23/13. Only 5.5 pounds to go. Yay, for eat less, move more!
How did you achieve your weight loss goal this week?
It was one of those days today. I dragged myself out of bed, rushed to get ready, and left without grabbing my lunch and breakfast.
I skipped breakfast and had school lunch. It by no means was a paleo/primal lunch but it was tasty. One of the better school lunches I’ve had.
There was chicken salad served on whole wheat bread with tomatoes and lettuce. Green beans, broccoli, fries, and peaches with whipped cream. Overall, not too bad.
My assistant was handing out Airheads to the kids and I didn’t want to resist and had one too!
Since, I was unprepared and we had bible talk I wanted something quick and easy. I also didn’t want to prepare two different meals, so I decided to make quesadillas topped with salsa. But I got home and realized that I didn’t have enough cheese. I made hamburgers for the boys which was still quick and easy because I just put the patties on the Foreman grill. And I ate the quesadillas.
At bible talk we’re doing a Jericho walk. Not sure how far the walk will be but that will be my exercise for the day. Not a bad eating day and exercise. Yay! Now to just make it Paleo!
I got up early and made breakfast. We had sausage and eggs.
I made some tuna on lettuce wraps.
For dinner I had taco salad made with ground turkey (After I eat it I remembered I’m not a fan of the taste of ground turkey. Overall it was satisfying though.)
I had two slices of this Edmonds Turtle pie over the course of the day. No pic. One I eat right after the t ball game (Marlins won, yay!) The other I ate after my nap. Obviously I shouldn’t have but not gonna beat myself up about it. There is one slice left, which I plan to give to the boys. Then all the sweets will be gone. Hopefully, a craving won’t hit me so hard I head to the store to buy dessert. Sugar addiction is SO hard to break!
I decided to take some “before” pictures. I’m finally back to the weight I was when I started this blog over Christmas break . So here are my first pics taken today at 252 pounds.
How do you satisfy your sweet tooth when losing weight?
